Ruling the Roost

And on time too.

I’m writing this listening to the Cars’ album Heartbeat City. Recently I’ve been writing to Keane whose blend of naivete and pure emotion brings tears to my eyes. But The Cars’ Drive seems the right soundtrack for now

So the second chi of the month of the earth Tiger in the year of the wood Rooster. The day is a water Rooster which is about as supportive as a day as the wood Rooster could hope for. Water supports wood you will remember. In a tricky year, this is not great.

Expect fresh liberties in the name of Liberty.

People have said to me several times this month words to the effect “I’m a Rooster, this is my year.” Actually no, Roosters don’t get on with each other. You go look in a chicken coop. Count the Roosters. If you are a Rooster, you would do well to ally with a Dragon this year. Wearing a Dragon symbol is a good way to do this especially if – God Bless You – you’re also wearing a “Make Poverty History” wristband.

So in this precarious year, a month of conflict. There is powerful idealistic yin chi active in the world but the odds are against it for now. The big openings aren’t likely to come much before May.

Q: How many feng shui men does it take to change a light bulb?

A: If only it were that simple.

And hunger is over.

Money

Now that I have your attention.

Some serious quick success with water features placed expressly for wealth this month.

I placed one for a shop in the third week in November as they were wary of a disappointing Christmas. They beat all their sales records and they’re still busy now as we approach the graveyard of the trading year.

Oh and by the way they provide wonderful service and work very hard.

And Paul and Donna reported pretty much instantaneous results with the water feature in his office.

Q: Were they just little fountains?

A: Yes.

Q: Were they placed just anywhere?

A: Uh no.

Q: Any old time?

A: No again.

Q: Could you be just a little less coy?

A: I’ve just written a very short booklet on water features for fun and profit. If you’d like one, let me know.

I used to be a Chinese Philospher but I’m alright tao.

I’ve been doing ba zi for Healing work with Ken and Sue this week. A series consists of a ba zi – that’s personal feng shui if you like – plus five one-hour sessions. These can be life changing.

Ken’s a computer whiz and he got a plague of gremlins this week.

The Universe did not want you on your computer, I suggested. To his huge credit he ran with this idea. He had felt useless because the one thing that made him worthwhile was closed to him. Very painful. Taking him back to pain he had suppressed as a little boy, I suggested and he took my word for it.

The tao, I went on, is a system except when it isn’t. You can’t argue with it. Except when you can. My basic rule is that I go with the flow unless I have a better idea. You can’t actually control anything. Generally the best you can do is get in touch with what you have chosen – however little you might like to own up to it – and work from there.

He was bemused but played along.

If we are to have any mastery over our lives, I said, we have to roll with tao, that is choose and accept what is so. The physical universe can not tell a lie. Things are the way they are. And getting that we have chosen, we can start to get in touch with what we might choose next.

It’s like the story of the American tourist lost in the West Country. Coming to the dead end of a narrow lane, he spots a local.

“Say, pal,” he calls, “How do I get to Bristol?”

“Well,” says the native, “Oi wouldn’t start from here.”

Ken’s a very easy going guy and we were discussing a very painful parting.

“Very easygoing is probably very damaged,” I said, quoting Chuck Spezzano.

In his bright affable way he promised to feel this week. It even may be that simple. That is a very brave man.

Carla

I surveyed Carla’ s house this week. The heart of her ba zi was very strong metal and it showed that she was very stuck. So I had a little bet with myself that her house would face either South which would be melting the metal and making persistence very hard or North which would make for three steps forward and one back. It was North.

She is a creative and powerful woman.

What her house showed was the depth of her resources. It is the nature of a North-facing house that if it has a reasonable arrangement of windows at the back it will be able to draw on the creative power of the South East and the promotional value of the South. Her office was in just such a position. Which allowed me to do some powerful water-feature placing to focus the chi very rapidly. This was a very satisfying visit for me and I look forward to seeing just how far she moves and how rapidly.

Not forgetting of course that often feng shui will put the ball on the penalty spot but we have to kick it. This is a lady with a good pair of feet.

Keep a smile on your face, a song in your heart and a spring in your onion.

Best wishes,

Richard Ashworth
