Ha Gee: Summer Solstice
The moon is full on the 22nd also, so in a sense we have full moon and full sun at the same time. This obviously does not happen every year. It is a particularly powerful time for processes that harness solar or lunar energy; that is everything from tides to the growth of the maize that forms your cornflakes.
Crystals can gain a particularly powerful charge at this time: left out for the six nights before the full moon they pick up the growing power of the waxing moon. This can be done any month but left out by day over the solstice, they also pick up the aggressively active chi of the sun at its height.
This is a very powerful time for movement.
The Fortnight in Brief.
q Surveyed Sue’s house on the outskirts of Edinburgh. She was telling me how nervous Edinburghers(?) are about the huge numbers of visitors due next month for Live 8 and G8. For herself she has simpler objectives. She is looking for Mr Right. She reported “a change of energy within the hour” and gentleman callers seem to be emerging from under flat stones.
q As they seem to be for my artist friend, Kara who is inspired by the Masonic symbolism appearing everywhere in her life. We decided on a very expensive black and white stone floor for her because we wanted to draw the metal and water of those colours along her corridor. It turns out that a black and white floor is a requirement for a Masonic Assembly. There’s not many people know that. Not me for a start.
q Eva very bravely agreed to simply feel the bodily sensations she associates with the “presence” in her house. This has been uncomfortable and demanding but is already leading to an openness that is very fresh to her. Be assured I have set up tangible feng shui to support the process.
q Davina has been in in three violent abusive relationships. As Oscar Wilde might have said, “Two is unfortunate but three looks like carelessness.” When I got to her house she was as stuck as anyone I have ever encountered. Briefly; moving forward meant retaliation and back more being the victim. One tell-tale signserves as an example: a perfectly positioned water feature which she had allowed to seize up and stagnate. It’s going again now and so hopefully is her life.
q Interviewed for ISIStalk which apparently received 20,000 hits in its first couple of days. I was also in a short “forum” with Shila, a healer who has been working with Tsunami victims and brilliant ex-GP, Dr Munchie who has some fascinating ideas about the science underpinning traditional practices. I managed to upset her in record time by suggesting that science had “got too big for its boots.” We really needed a longer time slot in order for me to explain myself or her to batter me with her handbag.
Summer Magick
I have been installing some subtle feng shui procedures at home over the last month, following a traditional map of positions around the house. On this pattern some locations need to be low and busy, some high and quiet. Where low and busy is required I may put water or mirrors. If there is a door there, so much the better. For high and quiet, walls and trees are ideal but I may place Buddhas in an empty space that should be occupied.
This particular procedure has been focused around the South which is about fame of course. Mine is a South-facing house. Not surprising then that not only are they suddenly without warning showing editions of Housebusters that I had forgotten about* but my whole family is on your screens as the “Sky family”.
In Godalming nobody gets Channel 5, so I am in little danger of being mobbed on the strength of Housebusters but everybody sees the Sky ads! For my children who are all performers and my wife who is a theatrical agent and to blame for all this, the Sky ad is just another foothill in the ruthless assault on the mountain range of success, for me the sidelong glances are a tad embarrassing.
But an excellent reference for the effectiveness of feng shui.
For your own use: the fame bit of this procedure consists of placing 9 things ideally red, ideally pointy, that are relevant to what you want to be famous for, in a South-facing window. The strongest fire chi of the year is right now so get on with it!
*This week I get to boss Janet Ellis about in her own house.
Cycles of Change IV:
Last week I was asked to provide a prediction for Wimbledon. Followers of my annual predictions may recall that I am already committed to England winning the Ashes – though I swear I have no money on it.
For this prediction I drew on the fact that the central “pillars#” of the birth chart for the year 2005 both correspond to 1934. There is a lot more to it but broadly these “pillars” cover the middle quarters of the year from March to September. So the middle of the year will show “echoes” of 1934 which was you may recall, the year of the “Bodyline” Series when the MCC had to change the laws of cricket to make them fair to Australians.
Interestingly it was also the year that Fred Perry, the last Briton to win Wimbledon, recorded the first of his three consecutive championships.
So an upset and a British winner.
Not knowing anything about tennis, I was totally unaware of Andy Murray, incidentally kitted out with Fred Perry gear, until he had won twice. And then he lost – which implies an “echo” rather than a duplication of 1934. A smaller upset and some British wins but not a British winner.
Does this mean that England having beaten the Australians twice now, have already peaked? Watch this space!
# A “pillar” is the elemental formula for a unit of time such as a day, an hour or a year. At the top of this document are the four “pillars” for the Summer Solstice.
Ending Hunger
Although significant debt has been dropped, the conditions attached remain arduous and it won’t do more than scrape the surface of the problem. We still need an absolute commitment at G8; a tall order as Richard Curtis’ touching “Girl in the Café” illustrated. Get up to date at:

Feedback is encouraged including that you never want to hear from me again if that happens to be the case.
