Living Feng Shui Video

Living Feng Shui video.

For more than a thousand years my home town of Godalming has been protected from overflowing river water by designated flood meadow or Lammas Land. There is a subtle interdependence between the meadow which because it is pasture in the summer is never overgrown, and the river which has been bursting its banks safely since the 9th century, despite being surrounded by occupied homes. This is real feng shui, real wind and water in play. Although it is deep in the Wey Valley, this means that Godalming apart from two or three places where humans have interfered with it, does not flood.

We recorded this piece out of doors in November 2013 to show how the defences held up to the big winds of that month and suggest (pretty accurately as it turned out) how it would stand up to the extreme weather later in the year and the greater extremes that will undoubtedly follow as the century wears on.
