Earth Rooster

FYI: all of these prognostications are drawn from careful drafting of the prevailing Elements day by day. That plus a little magic. If you’d like to learn how, we have a couple of spaces for serious students starting in late September. Here’s some detail:

The Month of the Earth Rooster, Animal by Animal:
These generic forecasts carry different nuances dependent upon whether this Animal rules your Year, Month, Day, Hour or Life House.

Rooster (1945, 57, 69, 81, 93; births in September*, 5-7pm & on certain days#) Review priorities, currently a tad superficial perhaps.

Dog (1946, 58, 70, 84, 96; births in October*, 7-9pm & on certain days#) Some challenges, some confrontation. Back down when appropriate to fight another day.

Pig (1947, 59, 71, 83, 95; births in November*, 9-11pm & on certain days#) Could be gruelling but not without positive results; trust that. This too shall pass.

Rats (1948, 60, 72, 84, 96; births in December* 11pm-1am & on certain days#). Some irritation, nagging and so on to rise above. Every time you do you’re stronger.

Ox (1949, 61, 73, 85, 97; births in January*, 1-3am & on certain days#) Stick to the point, you provide the grounding for now.

Tiger (1950, 62, 74, 86, 98; births in February*, 3-5am & on certain days#) kind of limbo, as much power as ever but without much clue as to how to use it.

Rabbit (1951, 63, 75, 87, 99; births in March*, 5-7am & on certain days#), Opposed and possibly undermined. A month of domestic bliss rather than obvious achievement.

Dragon (1952, 64, 76, 88, 2000; births in April* 7-9am & on certain days#) Empowered and possibly romanced especially if Dragon is your Hour or Day Pillar.

Snake (1941,53, 65, 77, 89; births in May*, 9-11am & on certain days#) A free hit.

Horse (1942, 54, 66, 78, 90; births in June*, around midday & on certain days#) Lie low; your Fire may melt Rooster Metal but won’t bring about what you want just yet.

Sheep (1943, 55, 67, 79, 91; births in July*, 1-3pm & on certain days#) Expect to spend some time alone. Learn to love it; this is mainly question of breathing.

Monkey (1944, 56, 68, 80, 92; births in August*, 3-5pm & on certain days#) Things may seem unbearably slow; people too. Trust and please yourself.

Chinese Months start later than European ones. #You’ll need help or a Chinese Calendar for this.

A Helpful Day
Saturday 10th September, Fire Tiger, Stomach, Initiate (4) **** beginnings.
Full Moon at 10:58a.m. makes this a day when Lunar qi peaks. New relationships approach that will tend to be initiated by the yin. All genders: await your moment. It will come and you’ll know.
Activity: Horse due South for illumination.
Most opportune forTigerHorseDogPig.

Not so Helpful
Sunday 11th September, Fire Rabbit, Pleiades, Destruction (3) ***** quite unhelpful
This Rabbit is very creative but can tear things up & start all over once too often. Pay close attention to criticism; learn but don’t self-destruct. “Trust the tale not the teller.” DH Lawrence.
Activity: Sheep SW1 (SSW around 205º). No favourites.

Where to be in the Rooster Month
North East, Wealth Star: Tai sui (Tiger) or Year Star: 8 Month Star: 7.
Likely dalliance, especially if the occupants are young. Also financial success. These readings are connected: sex makes for pride; love for confidence. Perhaps oddly, this remains the place to pray.
SupportEarth crystal, stone, marble, earth itself. A little Water.

Where not to be.
North West, Authority: Year Star: 6 Month Star: 5 Fortune Virtue (Pig NW3). Month wu huang.
Not great: patriarchy falling apart. This combination is all about damage: authority belaying about itself. Steer clear. If you must locate here (safest for Tigers & Rabbits) don’t take yourself too seriously. It’s said that a man’s greatest fear is to be a laughing stock; here’s where it happens. Keep kids out if you can.
DiluteWater a bowl changed daily will relieve some of the tension. A t’ang lung may too. FYI: my rain butt is here.

The Month of the Earth Rooster – the shape of the month.
The Glittering.
“If you remember the 60’s you really weren’t there.”
Paul Krassner.

Towards the end of his wonderfully scabrous novel Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Hunter S Thompson recalls the tide receding in San Francisco Bay in 1969, the Year of the Earth Rooster. This appears to be a metaphor for the end of the 60’s: flowers and beads and free love didn’t work; Woodstock gave way to Altamont, Watergate, carpet bombing in South East Asia and the reversal of the hippy dream that was the Manson murders. All that remained was guns and drugs.

The Rooster is often just such a watershed, a passageway between the seasons, both wet and warm, a time of harvesting fields and laying them fallow, reverting to offices and returning to classrooms. The Summer Solstice is long gone, the Autumn Equinox approaches. Monkeys, Snakes and Oxen can please themselves. Dragons are briefly more magical than at any other time of this earthbound year; for now Rabbits would be wise to lower their sights and have fun. We’re all in a state of stasis, waiting for change that may be beyond our immediate power.

The location of the Animal will indicate the area affected: your Year Animal broadly covers immediate physical, family and heritage issues; the Month: education and the work environment; the Day personal and relationship stuff.

The 4 Star of this month’s lo shu confirms that leaders are scraping around for fresh ideas. This is likely to disproportionately affect Roosters and Rabbits (like Liz Truss).
But this is no time of change: not probably in your office whether you work at home or away, not among your acquaintance nor out in the world. There is plenty of cosmetic shifting, of administrations for instance, but it’s not profound. It’s not transformation.

Earth Rooster is more of a magpie, flitting between glittery things. There are distractions but it will be October before Vladimir Putin suffers significant setback. Equally October brings fuel crisis and spectacularly unseasonable weather. Meanwhile we wait.

Better still, we think ahead: lay in stocks for coming shortages, insulate, consider those who may be hurting already. And as it happens, there are actually more helpful days this month than any other this year. Three days suit long term Water placement (which is vanishingly unusual) while the 10th, 13th, 15th, 16th and eleven others offer breaks for those who are paying attention.

The tide recedes but it always returns.
