The Month of the Wood Horse, Animal by Animal:
These generic forecasts carry different nuances dependent upon whether this Animal rules your Year, Month, Day, Hour or Life House.

Horse (1942, 54, 66, 78, 90; births in June*, around midday & on certain days#) Self-sabotage is a possibility, even self-harm if you don’t observe appropriate timing. Slow down, let the light come to you in its own time.

Sheep (1943, 55, 67, 79, 91; births in July*, 1-3pm & on certain days#) In a year of relative exclusion, the Horse includes you. Make hay.

Monkey (1944, 56, 68, 70, 82; births in August*, 3-5pm & on certain days#) Uncomfortable but only if you won’t let go. Healing boils down to distraction or immersion & distraction always leads to immersion in the end.

Rooster (1945, 57, 69, 81, 93; births in September*, 5-7pm & on certain days#) Relatively low key, issues of exclusion, rivalry and eclipse. Value what’s valuable.

Dog (1946, 58, 70, 84, 96; births in October*, 7-9pm & on certain days#) Possibly your highest profile and brightest light this year. Step up. Enjoy.

Pig (1947, 59, 71, 83, 95; births in November*, 9-11pm & on certain days#) Enjoy the limelight, the brighter the better. The worst is past.

Rats (1948, 60, 72, 84, 96; births in December* 11pm-1am & on certain days#). Opposed by the Horse, held close by the Ox. Relax; all manner of things shall be well. Real movement is not always visible immediately.

Ox (1949, 61, 73, 85, 97; births in January*, 1-3am & on certain days#) Your authority may be challenged. But not successfully and not for long. Stay out of proxy fights.

Tiger (1950, 62, 74, 86, 98; births in February*, 3-5am & on certain days#) Fully-charged. Use your short-lived power justly & keep an eye on the repercussions.

Rabbit (1951, 63, 75, 87, 99; births in March*, 5-7am & on certain days#) Much demanded of you.  Stretch.

Dragon (1952, 64, 76, 88, 2000; births in April* 7-9am & on certain days#) A time of progress: for learning, growing and making long-term plans. Maximise specifics. Review, revise, dare to speak out.

Snake (1941,53, 65, 77, 89; births in May*, 9-11am & on certain days#) Take advantage of the amplified light. Deal with the obvious that may have eluded you to date.
* Chinese Months start later than European ones. # You’ll need help or a Chinese Calendar for this.

The Wood Horse – Calm down, dear.
The Horse rules over the heat of Summer and obviously enough is the bringer of yang Fire; sometimes this Fire means actual heat or light, sometimes it stands for something as simple as attention. Fire represents the push of the trees upwards to the sun through the canopy of the rain forest. So attention, publicity, display, revelation all arrive with the Horse. Such attention may be domestic, professional, global or other. This is true of all five Horses: Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water, though they manifest these qualities in diverse ways.
But a Wood Horse is of itself a unique and ancient symbol, a trope if you will. The most familiar must be Homer’s Wooden Horse which of course was left outside the walls of Troy. Since the Greeks were nowhere to be seen, the Trojans took it to be a peace offering; about time after 10 years of siege. Unfortunately the reason the Greeks were not apparent was that they were inside the horse, armed to the teeth. Surprise!
The seer Cassandra, who you’ll remember was doomed to always tell the truth and never to be believed, begged the Trojans not to bring the Horse into the city. The Trojan powers-that-be ignored this woman whose truth was inconvenient, just as today so much of the warning and wisdom of such seers as Greta Thunberg and Naomi Klein is ignored. The rest of the story is probably both familiar and topical.
So maybe a Wooden Horse – as opposed to any other Zodiac Horse – represents the degree to which women are not listened to, that is to say not in positions of sufficient power or influence to make the difference that needs to be made. I’m not here talking about saving the planet (who is pretty good at looking after herself) but ensuring that the Earth is habitable for humans two hundred years hence.
A Wood Horse month then, may heighten this imbalance; the yin, the gentle, the nourishing, the perceptive, is not heeded. The spotlight is upon the louder male. So much of the world is currently dominated by these un-Cassandras – doomed forever to lie and yet to be believed. The Wood Horse may be the symbol of the mansplainer, the boor, the loudmouth, the demagogue. Men, even well-meaning enlightened men, are not listening to women. Where to go then to draw attention?
Technically the Horse suffers the self-clash: dazzled by the illumination, Horses are not reckoned to prosper during Horse months or years. Furthermore if you want to take advantage of the lustre, you can’t for now go South where the Horse’s Fire concentrates because the qi there is compromised. What you can do is face South East where the Wu Huang of the year sits. The Wu Huang is the Power; to draw upon that power you don’t place yourself there, you face that way, just as you might enjoy hot running Water but not make a habit of sitting on nuclear reactors.
You might also make use of the East which holds this month’s fortunate 8 Star but also the annual san sha, the Three Calamities. These misfortunes are said to be dissipated by the yang of summer heat. Once oriented, continue to speak your truth and/or continue to listen.

Where to be in June.
Summary: opportunity.
North East, Wealth Star: Tai sui or Year Star: 9 Sun (Tiger NE3), Month Star: 4.
Technically the He Tu combination 9 and 4 Stars here are transformative & make Metal. Which suggests a lift in certain marketplaces: crypto-currencies for instance. This reflects the Metal in the Metal Ox of the year which – as you may have noticed already – encourages ingenuity. Only in such a year would vaccines be developed so quickly. Locate NE for fresh ideas.
To magnify: occupy

Where not to be in June
Summary: exposure.
South, Bright Future: Year Star: 1 Month Star: 5. Monthly Wu Huang
Tricky. The monthly wu huang in the South means you will gain power by facing South if the Fire there is useful to you (examine your ba zi or have it examined for you) but locating South is hazardous. Typical Southern hazards include embarrassment and public exposure.
To protect: t’ang lung Metal: Metal stuff.

He was among the pioneers of feng shui survey & analysis at a distance (for now of course the most prudent way to do it) on MySpirit Radio in the noughties. Most Thursdays and Fridays he is to be found teaching both feng shui and ba zi one-to-one online (times by mutual arrangement) with students from Seattle to Belgium.

Richard has worked from Lebanon to Bermuda, in Kuala Lumpur and Singapore and with stars such as Naomie Harris, Kelly Hoppen and Gillian Anderson. Unusually for a Western Master, he has addressed the Grand Masters at the International Feng Shui Conference in Singapore.

Every month we send (at a modest fee) retainer clients a more comprehensive monthly bulletin than this one, covering in detail right places to be (and when) as well as the most helpful days Animal by Animal and much more from the Chinese calendar.
