Ongoing Online Book of Changes/I Ching Course

Ongoing Online Book of Changes/I Ching Course

Starting in May 2020 Richard is planning to host a  small monthly group via Zoom examining the meaning, use and application of each of the 64 Hexagrams of the Book of Changes or I Ching. Concentrating on one Hexagram per session – the course is set initially to run for twelve sessions. We have three places left.

We’ll start with the twelve Tidal Hexagrams. These mark the waxing and waning of the Sun (& of much more) : 2, 24, 19, 11, 34, 43, 1, 44, 33, 12, 20, 23. This approach offers a perspective on the uses and construction of the Yi. Each session will be freestanding however and will include context, history, folklore and philosophy as well as personal and other implications (not restricted to the above Hexagrams) as we go along. On one level this is a course in divination.

And yes, this approach implies something like four years of study. As Confucius said: “If I had another fifty years of life, I would spend it studying the Yi and I might perhaps become free of major error.” Insights may vary between the trivial and the life-changing.

These small one-hour Group Sessions  will be held monthly online via Zoom starting Friday May 1st 2020 at 17:00 BST. Taking into account breaks for holidays, Christmas and Chinese New Year, I see this initial series finishing in July 2021. I will provide firm dates towards the end of March.

You will be able to record each session, via Zoom if using a laptop and we aim to record too so if you can’t attend the odd session we will send you a recording.

The price for the initial twelve sessions will be £350 or £300 for the Early Bird (payment to be received by March 31st 2020). Please add 5% if paying via Paypal. To book a place please initially let me know on sheilavashworth@gmail.com as soon as possible. As I say, we have three places left.

Thanks. We hope to see you.

Sheila.
