The Golden Pig: the Month of the Metal Pig 2017
Slightly different format this month. No editorial/chit-chat. There’ll be plenty in the Diary which will go out a little later in the month. This is more of a bulletin and we’ll call it that from now.
From time to time we aim to replace or augment bulletins and diaries with video.
So watch your inbox.
I hope this meets with your approval. Any feedback, comments, expressions of resentment or joy that you may feel the need to respond with are of course very welcome.

Hexagram 2Animal by Animal
During this Metal Pig Month,
The Rat is ready,
The Ox may defend,
The Tiger sees openings,
The Rabbit finds company;
The Dragon holds fast if she’s smart,
The Snake is especially truthful,
The Horse may have lonely moments,
The Sheep joins up,
The old Monkey tries new tricks,
The Rooster either preys or prays,
The Dog may feel uprooted,
and
The Pig needs space.
Remember there is an Animal in your ba zi relating to each of the Year, Month, Day and Hour of birth that represents different aspects of your life:
Year Animal: physicality, forebears, heritage, the obvious
and the immediate.
Month Animal: the work environment, education, peers, siblings,
exes;
Day Animal: you and your beloved;
Hour Animal: your most intimate thoughts, children, dreams,
the future.
An 8 month implies immediate positive change.
Most helpful location: tai chi – the geometrical heart of the house
Favoured Animals: Rabbit, Sheep and Tiger.
Especially challenged one way or another: Pig, Snake, Monkey.
The Hexagram (above): Kun, Earth; the source of power, all to play for.

A Day with Richard Ashworth:
The Year of the Mutt, Forecast Day 2018,
The Year of the Earth Dog,
Sat December 2nd, Godalming.
The Earth Dog is resolute. She is restless and immovable, an uneasy combination; which may be why so many powerful women were born under this sign; they just don’t know how to give up. The emerging 9th Fate continues to make this the Age of Woman and 2018 will see that re-balancing proceed.
In 2018 a house facing South East may be favoured. There are however many ways to harness the fresh energy which we will be discussing. Similarly Rabbits may find themselves with some sort of free ticket and the Dragon may feel challenged. None of this is written in stone however, as you will learn.
Globally we can expect the establishment to be shaken but not stirred. The map suggests trouble in North Korea (no prizes for that) but also Venezuela, Morocco, Nepal and among the Uighurs of Western China. Unbalanced Dogs like Donald Trump will tend to continue to shy away from self-awareness and Horses such as Angela Merkel may chase their own tails.
As the sage wrote, the only constant is change, so for each country, each occupation and each individual there will be fresh opportunities. Whether these prove positive or otherwise is a question of our choice in reacting to them. Though we all have preferences the tao is generally without bias.
If there is a point in knowing Classical Chinese Feng Shui it is surely to make our lives and those around us happier, healthier, wealthier and wiser. As it happens in 2017 the Roosters of 1957 hit 60 (that is the end of their first cycle). In a sense this means they landed back in the late 1950’s with the opportunity to pick up on the lessons missed first time round. This principle made 2016 an interesting year for 1956 Fire Monkey Theresa May and understanding it, the Qing Emperor Qian Loong actually retired to grow vegetables after ruling from 1733 to 1793. Where in that cycle of 60 years are you as you read this?
Horticulture may not be your plan but you might like to join us on December 2nd in Godalming (repeated online via Zoom on the 3rd) to examine how the coming year is likely to affect you, your family, your business and the world.

For the thrifty, the Early Bird offer remains open.
Where to be in November.
Summary: the most creative location currently.
Tai chi, the Heart: Year Star: 1 Month Star: 8.
Home is where the heart is and this is the heart of the home. Both of these stars are helpful; the 1 loosens tongues (generally in a good way) and the 8 makes things work. When these Stars meet, it’s time to push the boat out. If we add Metal in the form of a 6-Pipe Metal Windchime or even simply Metal objects, we can make the helpful 1:6:8 combination. Alternately constant bright light stimulates the 8 to deliver. Either way, aim to spend time at the heart of your space this month.
Enhancement: Bright light (that is Fire) and/or Metal.
Where not to be in November.
Summary: the least helpful area right now.
South West, Accumulation: Year Star 7, Month Star: 5.
The South West relates to relationship, co-operation, gentleness, the Mother and all the qualities associated with Woman and the yin. The 7 there all year has made the equality of women top priority and the mischievous 5 brings it to a head. It’s likely to be a shaky month if we locate or face SW too much. SW-facing buildings of course and SW doors suffer the same drawbacks. Who’s going to tell Harvey Weinstein?
Solution: Metal objects , 6 Pipe Metal Windchime, wu lou .
East and West Groups: Everybody falls into either the East or the West Group by virtue of their birth date. The calculation is simple but if you do want to know where you belong, email me at richardashworth@imperialfengshui.info.
Readers Digest version: East Group people best face East, South, South-East and North and/or in buildings and beds backing onto these directions. West Group vice-versa. Sorry it’s fiddly, I’m not making this stuff up.
